Affordable laminate stair installation in the Charlotte Metro Area
Laminate stairs give you the look of solid hardwood at a more accessible price point - and on the busiest surface in your house, that's a smart trade. Floor Decor & More installs AC4 and AC5 laminate stair systems throughout the Charlotte Metro Area, from Waxhaw and beyond, using matching nosings, padded risers, and finish trim that ties the staircase into the laminate flooring it leads to.
Because laminate's wear layer is engineered to take abuse, it's a particularly good choice for rentals, second homes, basement stairs, and houses with kids or dogs.

Choosing the right laminate for stairs
Not every laminate plank belongs on stairs. We only quote AC4 (heavy residential) or AC5 (commercial) products on staircases, because anything less will show wear at the nosing within a year. We also stick to 12 mm thicknesses where possible - thicker boards feel more solid underfoot and accept the matching nosing more cleanly.
- AC4 and AC5 wear-rated planks only
- 12 mm thickness recommended for stairs
- Factory-matched stair nosings included
- Padded underlay reduces noise on each step

How we install laminate stairs cleanly
Laminate is a click-lock floating floor in the main room, but on stairs it has to be glued and mechanically fastened. We use construction adhesive plus hidden brad nails behind the nosing on every tread, glue the riser caps in place, and finish with color-matched caulk so there are no visible gaps. Done right, a laminate staircase is silent, scratch-resistant, and indistinguishable from real hardwood at a glance - if you'd rather compare it against real hardwood stairs or carpeted stairs, bring it up at a free estimate and we'll lay out the trade-offs.

AC4 and AC5 rated laminates are designed for high-traffic commercial use, and they hold up well to the Charlotte Metro Area's active households. On a residential staircase they routinely outlast carpet and rival hardwood for wear.
Yes - we use the same plank for both. The only difference is the matching nosing on the front edge of each stair, which is sourced from the same manufacturer so the color and grain match exactly.
They have similar slip resistance to satin-finished hardwood. We can add discreet anti-slip tape under each nosing if you have older relatives or active pets.
Yes. We remove any carpet first, level the treads if needed, and install directly on top. No need to tear out the underlying staircase.
