Where mosaics make the biggest impact
Mosaic tile is the design element that takes a project from done to designed. A single feature wall, shower floor, or backsplash band in glass, marble, or penny-round mosaic adds a custom-built feel that flat tile alone can't match. Floor Decor & More sources and installs mosaic tile for homeowners across the Charlotte Metro Area and out to Indian Land, SC, in glass, ceramic, natural stone, hex, penny-round, herringbone, and custom patterns.
Mosaic is also the right tile for shower floors - the smaller pieces follow the slope without lippage, and the extra grout lines add slip resistance exactly where you want it.

Where mosaic tile belongs
Mosaics shine when used as an accent, a transition, or in spaces small enough that the detail reads at a glance - most often paired with wall tile or a larger-format tile floor.
- Shower floors - small pieces hug the slope to the drain and resist slips
- Kitchen backsplash bands - a stripe of mosaic between subway tile and the upper cabinets
- Niches and inset accents - turn a shower niche into a feature instead of a hole in the wall
- Powder room walls - high drama in a small footprint
- Pool surrounds and water features - glass mosaic in waterline tile

How we install mosaic properly
Most mosaics come on mesh or paper-faced sheets roughly 12x12. The skill is in the seams between sheets - lined up wrong, you'll see a grid pattern across the whole installation. We dry-lay every sheet, hand-pull individual tiles to break the pattern at sheet edges, and use white thinset under glass mosaics so the color stays true, whether it's a small backsplash or a full porcelain field with a mosaic inset.
Glass mosaics in particular require care - we cut them with a wet saw and diamond blade, never snap them, and we use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching the glass faces. Bring us your inspiration photo at a free estimate and we'll price it out.

Yes - they take more time per square foot because there are more pieces and more grout. The skill is in keeping the pattern continuous across sheet edges, which is why we hand-lay every install.
Mosaic is the best tile for shower floors. The small size follows the slope to the drain, and the extra grout lines provide grip even when wet.
Cement grout can darken over time, especially in light colors. For showers and high-use backsplashes we recommend epoxy grout - stain-proof, no sealing required.
Yes - we've installed custom medallions, mixed-material borders, and one-off patterns from designer specifications for clients throughout the Charlotte Metro Area. Bring us the inspiration photo and we'll quote it.
